Your former students want to thank you. Properly.
PayMyTeacher lets the people you taught set aside part of every paycheck for you, and pass along a note with it. Claiming your profile is free and takes a few minutes.
What this is
Supporters, usually former students, pick the teachers who made a difference and give a percentage or a flat amount of each paycheck. We collect it on their payday and send your share to your own bank account. Gifts are personal gifts to you, not donations to a school.
Claim your profile
Search the directory for yourself and click This is me. Not listed? Create a profile in a couple of minutes.
Get verified
Confirm with your school email address, or upload a document such as a school ID or a pay stub. We check every claim by hand.
Connect your bank
Stripe Express sets up payouts to your own account. Gifts, including any already waiting for you, are paid out weekly.
Free for teachers
There is no fee to receive gifts. A supporter's gift already accounts for the flat 1% PayMyTeacher fee and for payment processing, and they can cover processing themselves so the full gift arrives. Nothing further is deducted from your share when it is paid out.
Verification protects you
Only verified teachers receive gifts. That means nobody can collect money in your name, and supporters know the person on the profile is really you. Your bank details stay with Stripe; we never see or store them.
Retired teachers welcome
Many of the people being thanked here taught decades ago. If you have retired, verify with a document instead of a school email, and mark your profile as retired so former students can find you.
What you get
- Gifts on a schedule. A share of every supporter's paycheck, paid out weekly to your bank account.
- The notes. Every gift can carry a message from the person who sent it. Read them on your teacher dashboard.
- A public profile. Your name, school, subjects and a short bio, so the right people find you. Add a photo if you like.
- Your privacy. Supporters see your name and school, never your email, address or bank details.
- No obligations. Nothing to sell, nothing to promote, no minimums. Stop any time.
Taxes
Gifts through PayMyTeacher are personal gifts from individuals. We do not give tax advice; what you receive may or may not be taxable depending on your situation, so please talk to a tax professional.
Stripe collects tax information from you during payout setup where the law requires it.
Questions teachers ask
Someone added me but I never received an invitation.
Supporters can add a teacher without an email address. Search the directory for your name, open your profile and click This is me to start the claim from there.
What if a profile with my name is wrong or is not me?
Claim it anyway and correct the details, or write to hello@paymyteacher.com and we will sort it out. If someone is impersonating you, tell us and we will remove the profile.
Do I have to do anything to keep receiving gifts?
No. Once you are verified and your bank account is connected, payouts run on their own. Log in whenever you want to read notes or update your profile.
Somebody is looking for you.
Claim your profile so the thank-yous have somewhere to go.
